[Epub ahead of print] Photobiomodulation therapy improves both inflammatory and fibrotic parameters in experimental model of lung fibrosis in mice. Brochetti RA1, Leal MP1, Rodrigues R1, da Palma RK2, de Oliveira LVF2, Horliana ACRT1, Damazo AS3, de Oliveira APL1, Paula Vieira R4, Lino-Dos-Santos-Franco A5. Author information Abstract Lung fibrosis (LF) is a chronic and progressive lung disease characterized by pulmonary parenchyma progressive lesion, inflammatory infiltration, and interstitial fibrosis. It is developed by...

Using light therapy to help the body lower inflammation in this research from Harvard. AIMS Biophys. 2017;4(3):337-361. doi: 10.3934/biophy.2017.3.337. Epub 2017 May 19. Mechanisms and applications of the anti-inflammatory effects of photobiomodulation. Hamblin MR1,2,3. Author information Abstract Photobiomodulation (PBM) also known as low-level level laser therapy is the use of red and near-infrared light to stimulate healing, relieve pain, and reduce inflammation. The primary chromophores have been identified as cytochrome c oxidase in mitochondria, and calcium ion channels (possibly mediated by light absorption by opsins). Secondary effects of photon absorption...

Check out this great study about shining red light (660nm) on the lungs to help with lung inflammation and fibrosis.  We have an owner in our group who is doing well with her lung issues after adding daily light sessions to her wellness routine. Lung Inflammation and Light! Allergies making it hard to breath? Try light! Because certain wavelengths of light shining into the body have often been shown to reduce inflammation, this study looked at the effect on inflammation in the lungs due to allergies. They found LED light (doesn’t say the color in this abstract) was effective. The result on mice was “reduced the lung cell infiltration, the mucus production, the oedema, and the tracheal’s contractile response.” Shine with the right light! J Biophotonics. 2017 Apr 18. doi: 10.1002/jbio.201600247. [Epub ahead of print] Light-Emitting Diode treatment ameliorates allergic lung inflammation in...
